International Action Center calendar: Oct. 28-Nov. 2
Friends:
November is Homeless Awareness Month and the Metro Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless which provides shelter for upwards of 700 men a night as well as operating a 24 hour-a-day hotline, a residential housing program, art and computer training and much more needs your help. With the escalating unemployment, foreclosures and urban gentrification, the number of people who cannot find affordable, decent housing is skyrocketing. Funding for the Task Force has been impacted not just by the economy but more so by the deliberate interference of City Hall and its big business backers to drive the shelter off of Peachtree St.
Financial donations of any amount are gladly accepted to keep the water, electricity and heat on. Clothing, blankets, shoes and other items are appreciated. Volunteers are most welcome. Please support the Task Force in its ongoing work and by participating in the special programs and events scheduled for November. (See calendar)
